New Waterford hurling song launched after 5 years in the making

The Munster Hurling Championship kicks off this Sunday and our very own senior hurlers will travel to Semple Stadium to take on current All-Ireland Champions Limerick.

Davy Fitz's charges have been busy preparing for Sunday's clash but two other men who have been busy are twins Robbie and Simie Kenny from Clonea-Power.

Busy of a different kind though!

They have been working on a Waterford hurling song for players and supporters since 2017.

Written by the two lads, along with Ger Hough, the song is called Half Past Three On a Sunday.

On the inspiration for the song, the Kennys said, 'we wrote it for people like our father who is 86 and was there in 1959. What memories he has. Hopefully, we can win one for his generation again soon.'

The brothers said they showed the demo to a band called The Waxies who loved it.

The Waxies then officially recorded it this year in a studio and it's now ready in time for you to learn the lyrics for hopefully, a busy summer of hurling ahead.

Enjoy!
