Waterford will play a central role in an iconic New Year’s event later tonight.
The eyes of the world will be on New York’s Times Square and the Waterford Crystal ball which descends as the new year is rung in.
Each year, dozens of hand-crafted, newly-designed crystal triangles are added to the 2,688 crystal-paneled orb.
Tom Brennan is Waterford Crystal’s American spokesperson.
The 48 year old Waterford native was a glass blower for 15 years as was his father before him.
Tom says he works hard to sell his birthplace on his travels.
“I still can’t believe this huge thing that the world watches comes out of my small hometown,” he said.
