Covid-19 in Waterford: Dungarvan cases double, while Tramore has second lowest rate in country 

Carndonagh in Co Donegal has recorded the highest rates of Covid-19 for the fifth week in a row with levels of the virus now at five times the national average.

While in Waterford, cases in the Dungarvan area have almost doubled

Tramore / Waterford City West had the second lowest incidence rate in Ireland with 37 cases recorded in the area in the two weeks from August 3rd to August 16th.

That's the same as a week prior, giving an incidence rate of 165.4 per 100,000 people, with cases also remaining static in Waterford City South with 45 cases recorded - the 9th lowest in Ireland, and in Lismore with 18 cases.

The incidence rate in Waterford City South remains 200.2 while it stands at 167.8 in Lismore.

The incidence rate has risen significantly in three parts of Waterford.

In the Dungarvan local electoral area, cases have risen 88% on last week with 113 cases recorded - with the incidence rate of 551.3 the only one in Waterford higher than the then national average of 493.2

Waterford City East recorded 66 cases in the fortnight, an increase of 62%, with the incidence rate at 287.4.

Portlaw / Kilmacthomas has seen 48 cases, an increase of 64%, with the rate rising to 280.4

Clonmel in Tipperary has the lowest rate in Ireland, slightly below that in Tramore, with Carndonagh in Donegal the highest for the fifth week running with the incidence rate five times the national average.
