
A Waterford man has died after being involved in a collision at the Manx Grand Prix.
Louis O’Regan, originally from Waterford, died of his injuries after crashing at Kateās Cottage on the mountain section of the 37.73-mile course at about 16:50 BST as reported by the BBC.
The 43-year-old, who lived in Didcot, England, raced for the first time in 2013 and placed 12th in the Newcomers A Race.
The race organisers released a statement expressing their “sincere sympathies to Louis’s partner Sarah, his family, loved ones, and friends.”
āHe recorded his personal best lap speed in the 2019 Junior Race, lapping at an average speed of 114.7mph.”
The opening qualifying session was not restarted following the incident.
