Local man, Conor Ryan is raffling off his West Waterford home, a car and also €5,000 in cash in a bid to provide a defibrillator to a sports club in every county in Ireland.

Conor Ryan, a taxi driver from Ballymacarbry, is raffling off a three-bed semi-detached home in Dungarvan on Raffall.

Speaking to WLR as part of a Deise Today housing special, Conor Ryan says the idea came about when he saw similar raffles taking place in the South East, and he wanted to help on the defibrillator aspect when a close friend suffered a heart attack.

Conor is hoping to sell 50,000 tickets at a price of £10 each.

He says that with the current housing crisis in Waterford, it would be easy for him to just sell the home, but he wants to give everybody an equal chance.

"For a tenner, some couple that are stuck and can't get on the property ladder might get lucky. I see it everyday on Facebook. People are asking for houses in Dungarvan. There is not a house to be got. If you win the house, you needn't live in it. You can sell it, rent it."
