Munster Secure Bonus-Point Win Over Ospreys Despite Disjointed Display
Munster claimed a valuable bonus-point victory over the Ospreys on Saturday in Bridgend, collecting maximum points despite an uneven attacking performance.
The result boosts Munster’s league position, even if the display lacked fluency. Alex Nankivell stood out on a difficult night, delivering consistent impact in attack and defence while others struggled to impose themselves.
Early Scores Mask Attacking Struggles
Munster scored three first-half tries despite persistent issues in attack. Shane Daly opened the scoring with a simple finish in the corner after Ospreys lost Max Nagy to the sin bin.
Nagy saw yellow for tripping Daly as the winger chased a kick into the 22. The infringement cost the hosts five points, but Munster failed to capitalise fully. Ospreys applied heavy line speed and disrupted the attacking rhythm.
Munster found it hard to generate creativity, while the Ospreys struggled to turn defensive intensity into points. Their best chance ended when Nankivell won a breakdown turnover, halting a promising attack. Dan Edwards landed a penalty, which proved their only first-half score.

Late Burst Builds Control
Munster pulled clear late in the half with two quick tries. Lee Barron, on for the injured Niall Scannell, powered over from a rolling maul.
Moments later, Jack Crowley finished from close range after a sharp Paddy Patterson break near the ruck. The scores turned a narrow lead into a comfortable advantage at the interval.
Second-Half Edge Secures Bonus Point
Munster started the second half with greater intent. Nankivell won a key collision and offloaded, forcing the defence to scramble.
The line never recovered. Mike Haley crossed untouched a phase later to seal the bonus point. Munster now leads by 23 points with half an hour remaining.
Defence Holds Firm Late On
Ospreys controlled possession as they searched for a response. Jack Walsh threatened with a late break into the 22, but Munster defended well.
The visitors continued to dominate the breakdown, forcing another turnover to kill momentum. Barron came close to a second maul try, but the defence held him up over the line.
Munster’s final attack ended with an intercept, as Ospreys line speed again exposed a lack of punch in the carry.
