Waterford FC make it five from five with win over Treaty United

Waterford FC- 4 | Treaty United - 1

Waterford continued their winning ways with a comprehensive 4 -1 victory over Treaty United at the Market’s Field last night.

Ronan Coughlan scored four on Friday night and it took him just 18 minutes to get his first of three yesterday. After he was fouled by Ben O'Riordan, he converted the penalty kick to give Waterford the lead.

He added a second four minutes later when Dean McMenamy’s cross was touched home by the Blues’ striker.

There were anxious moments for the visitors when they conceded a goal just after the restart but Ryan Burke scored his first for the club on 61 minutes before Coughlan got his second hat-trick in successive games four minutes later to become the first Blues player since John Walsh in 1937 to score hat-tricks in successive games.

Waterford boss Keith Long will be pleased with the performance as the Blues secured all 3 points.

The result has brought them back to within seven points of First Division leaders, Galway United.

The next outing for Waterford FC is this Friday when once again they hit the road to face Bray Wanderers from 7.45pm and WLR will have full live commentary.
