Ray Recommends: Irish Music from October

Hello, it's Ray C here again with another selection of newly released Irish music that has been featured on my show The Shift over the month of October. There were some amazing tunes out this month, some of the artists you may know and some you may only be discovering for the first time. Either way, Enjoy!

Before you read on,  I have started a new music show on our website called Ear On Eire. Each episode features over an hour of brand-new independent Irish music to wrap your ears around. You can listen to the last couple of episodes HERE

Rachel Grace – Rough Patch

Wexford native Rachel is no stranger to the WLR Airwaves in 2018 when she was just 16 she sent me her single You Don’t Know which has been featured on our playlist ever since. At 16 her voice was incredible she blew me away and she still does. You can hear her perform it Live on The Shift from 2018 here.

Rough patch is her first single in 2 years and she is back with bang her amazing voice wrapped around some soulful sounds, and I believe Rachel will be releasing her debut album next year!

For now though find out all about Rachel below.

Davy Lyons – Amen

Davy is a songwriter, musician, songwriter and poet originally from Wexford and he now resides in Barcelona (the lucky fecker). Amen is his first track from his forthcoming second album The Human Factor which is due out early 2023.

This track is best played on a nice set of headphones. I’ve been playing this at least once a day at my desk since I got it just to give myself a quick escape from it all. This song is beautiful and simplistic. I hope you like it

Wednesday Escape – She Doesn’t Know

Wednesday is an experimental pop duo based in Dublin consisting of Alex Geiger and Eric McGrath who share a similar style passion for writing songs. Eric is no stranger to WLR as his past solo released have feature regular on my show and he was part of our Waterford Music Week feature as Eric has family connections with Portlaw.

She Doesn’t Know is a real uplifting and very catchy pop tune that will have you singing and bopping along.
