'Clean-up the Comeraghs' takes place this weekend

One of the largest community clean-ups in County Waterford takes place again this Easter weekend.

The Clean up the Comeraghs event covers a wide area of Mid County Waterford each year.

Organised by the Comeragh Community Development Group, it includes a major community clean-up on Easter Monday covering an area of forty miles .

"Many people are already out and about cleaning their own areas or they meet in Leamybrien on Easter Monday," explained Declan Mulhearne from the group.

"It's amazing to see the amount of people that turn up on Easter Monday and want to take part," he said.  "People usually clean an area within a quarter of a mile of their own residence."

Bags, gloves and litter pickers will all be allocated in Leamybrien from 10am on Easter Monday and the Waterford City & County Council depot will be open to take items which are collected.
