Gardaí responded to a public order incident in the vicinity of Mary Street in Waterford city this evening, August 14 at approximately 7.15pm.
At least six units of An Garda Siochana attended the call-out which moved from a nearby premises onto the street. Several members of the public were engaged in what is understood to have been an incident of violent disorder in a public place.
Two men, aged in their 20s and 40s, were arrested for public order offences. The men are currently being detained at separate Garda stations in Waterford.
Investigations are ongoing.
No injuries were reported as a result, and An Garda Siochana confirmed to WLR that the incident was peacefully dealt with.
