Residents "deserve better" than appearance of Tramore CBS site

Concerns have been raised on the appearance of a prominent site in Tramore.

The former CBS site looks unsightly and is attracting anti-social behaviour, according to Sinn Fein Councillor Jim Griffin.

He raised the issue at this month's Metropolitan District meeting of Waterford City and County Council.

"The old Tramore CBS out there -  is there anything we can do on the disused buildings and outhouses is what you call them now with the weeds growing up", outlined Cllr. Griffin. "There's a lot of them, I was in there and there's a lot of drug paraphernalia that can be found there now and I know we're coming into that time of year where kids will start roaming in around that area. Once the weather gets fine, they'll be in there late at night. I think the residents deserve something a bit better out there."

Head of Environment with Waterford Council, Dawn Wallace gave a commitment to address the issues.

"I can talk to the enforcement team, the waste enforcement team, about the old CBS building and see if we can write to the owners in terms of littering there."
