Tributes to Waterford crash victim as funeral details announced

Warm tributes have been paid to the young woman who died tragically in a road traffic collision in County Waterford earlier this week.

Katie Houlihan from Coxtown, Dunmore East died in a single vehicle collision on the R685 at Quillia near Tramore on Monday night at approximately 10.15pm.

She was the sole occupant and driver of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

She is survived by her parents Liz and Richie, sisters Natalie and Aíne, grandmother Kay Taylor and grandparents Paddy and Breda Houlihan and extended family and friends.

Katie was a member of 2nd Port Dunmore East Sea Scouts and the group paid tribute to her, saying: "We are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of beautiful Katie. She will be hugely missed in our group by everyone. Sending deep-felt condolences."

Meanwhile, in a message of condolence, Dunmore East RNLI said: "Sincere condolences to Richie, Liz, Natalie and Aine, family and friends on the sad passing of your beloved Katie. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. May Katie Rest In Peace."

Katie will be reposing at her home on Thursday evening with a gathering of family and friends from 4pm to 7pm.

Requiem Mass will take place on Friday in the Holy Cross Church, Killea, Dunmore East, at 11am, followed by private family cremation in the Island Crematorium Cork.
