Volunteers to set up 'Safety Patrol' in Dungarvan

A new group calling themselves Volunteer Safety Patrol has been set up in Dungarvan.

In a post on their newly-formed social media, they say it's being done in response to recent reports of violence in the town.

They say it's not about "race, sex, or bias of any kind" but about protecting the peace.

It comes as Gardaí have told WLR today that investigations are ongoing into reports of an attempted assault in Dungarvan in the early hours of Sunday, February 19th.
