Well known Cheekpoint pub/restaurant on the market

A well-known traditional pub and restaurant in County Waterford is up for sale.

Mc Alpin's Suir Inn opened in Cheekpoint in 1971 and has been run by the same family since then.

It's now on the market with John Rohan Sherry Fitzgerald and has an asking price of 400,000 euro.

Frances McAlpin says it's a tough business to be in so long:

"I think we've had our day with it - 50 years is a long time...I'm second generation, my daughter is third generation, but she's not really interested (in taking it over) - even our customers now are fourth-generation coming in."

Frances says she'll miss the customers but said there is great potential there now that pontoons are being put in to allow boats to dock in the picturesque village once again.

Fans of their famous seafood pies will be glad to hear Frances plans to continue supplying their takeaway meals to several retailers including Cove Stores in Tramore, Londis on the Dunmore Road and Flanagans fish shops.
