Works to transform landmark Waterford City building for housing almost complete

Works on the landmark St Joseph's House in Waterford City are nearing completion.

More than 4 million euro had been provided by the Department of Housing to convert the complex.

It was announced in 2021 that 71 residential units were set to be developed for older people at the former home of the 'Little Sisters of the Poor'.

€4.2 million euro was granted by the Department of Housing as part of the government's 'Housing for All' Plan.

Waterford Council says St Joseph's House is now a state-of-the-art, age-friendly housing development.

It will soon be open to accommodate residents aged 55 and over in a modern setting on Manor Hill in the city.

50 one and two-bed dwellings are located in the main building and 21 units are in the various outbuildings on the site.

The council is now looking for expressions of interest to live here.
