A new WLR News Special on Domestic Abuse looks at the sharp rise in instances of domestic abuse locally.

This comes as nationally, 59,000 reports were made to An Garda Síochána last year.

Dymphna Nugent spoke to Inspector Shay Keevans from Waterford Garda Station about the options available to someone who feels trapped in a volatile situation.

She also spoke with two Waterford women, who spoke about their own personal experiences.
