Celebrations in full-swing in Rathgormack as they celebrate first Co. Senior football title since 1999

Rathgormack brdiged a twenty year gap in Fraher Field yesterday as they were crowned Co. Senior football Champions.

They claimed their first title since 1999 following a hard fought 2-6 to 1-6 win over Ballinacourty, in what turned out to be a tight and tense battle.

First-half goals from Paul Drohan and man of the match Willie Hahessy paved the way for Ger Power's side.

A Mark Ferncombe goal brought Ballinacourty back into contention but the Eastern-side held out for a hard fought win as neither side scored in the final fifteen minutes.

Rathgormack manager is Ger Power who was on the last winning team in 1999; "I suppose when your a player your in the middle of it and you probably don't get time to take a top level view of what's going on but when you're involved in the management you've to take more of a top level view and suppose you get to see more of it and see what's involved to get them to this stage".

Jason Gleeson says they've worked hard at underage level over the past number of years.
