Blues trip to Cork postponed

Blues trip to Cork postponed

The Cork City v Waterford FC game which was originally billed for June 10th has been postponed.

The FAI has announced, "a new date for the fixture to be announced in due course."

It's understood that the game has been deferred as a Cork player will be involved in Jim Crawford's Republic Of Ireland U21 squad to play in the European Under-21 Championship Qualifiers.

Following the Blues 4-0 win over Treaty United -  the team which is currently being guided by Gary Hunt and David Breen are firmly holding third in the table.

The gap to the top of the table has looked likely to decrease with the Blues recent run of form. They have put six wins back-to-back for the first time in over 22 years.

The club have just started their two-week mid-season break, and were to return to face Cork in Turners Cross. They will now come back to welcome Bray to the RSC on June 24th, before trips to Athlone and Galway.

While Cork will have a goalkeeper involved in Crawford's squad, Waterford have not missed out either. Ollie O' Neil who's family are from Waterford, as well as Waterford native  Lee O' Connor are both named in the squad who will face Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Italy.
