Line Out lands Cesarewitch for John Kiely

Dungarvan trainer John Kiely has landed the Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh, as Line Out was first to the line in the 30-runner race at odds of 18/1.
Kiely’s charge, ridden by Shane Foley, saw off Cesarewitch Trial winner Turnpike Trip to land the honour - 53 years after Kiely first won the race in 1968, in what is a truly remarkable training performance.

The 83-year-old Lisfennel handler trained a 100/1 shot to glory when he was just 30, and now takes home the top prize of €80,000 thanks to the success of the nine-year-old.

The first five home were completed by Henry De Bromhead’s Lynwood Gold in 5th, who came in behind the Willie Mullins’ pair of Maze Runner and Royal Illusion
