Over one hundred people turned out in protest against plans to close the Kilmeaden Post Office in County Waterford last night.
The post office received a letter last week notifying it An Post is considering closing it.
The community filled the Ballyduff Community Centre to hear from several national and local politicians.
They have until Wednesday to send their objections to An Post.
Fianna Fail Deputy Mary Butler says there are roughly one thousand transactions in the post office each week.
However the Waterford deputy believes that number will have to be increased to ensure it stays open.
