The CEO of Waterford City and County Council says the focus on Waterford Airport must be securing a runway extension.
Aer Southeast was due to begin services to the UK in July, however it was halted due to licencing issues.
Waterford Airport has been without a commerical carrier since VLM ceased flights in June 2016.
The Department of Transport said funding of 39 thousand euro set aside for Waterford Airport in June is on hold until the resumption of passenger air services.
One million euro was given in December last year, and the Airport has received funding of 20 million over the last decade.
Council CEO Michael Walsh says he is hopeful of positive news on a new service at the Airport.
