The Nire progressed to the semi finals of the senior football championship for the seventh year in a row with a comfortable 2-15 to 1-7 win against Clashmore last night.
Conor Gleeson kicked seven points while Dermot Ryan and Darren Guiry found the net in either half.
Paul O’Connor fired a late consolation goal for Clashmore.
Nire selector Paudie Halpin felt that Dermot Ryan’s opening goal was crucial:
“Dermot’s had a tough year, he’s had a lot of injuries… hopefully we haven’t many injured after tonight, the pitch was heavy, they’ll be tired and we’re out again next Sunday. It’s tough going, it’s November football”.
The Nire will face An Rinn in the last four on Sunday and Halpin expects another big test.
