Déise defeated by Cork in Munster U-21 Hurling Championship Semi-Final

The Waterford under 21 hurlers bowed out of the Munster championship last night with a three point loss to Cork at Pairc Ui Chaoimh (0-23 to 1-17).

A ninth minute goal from John Paul Lucey gave the underdogs a 1-8 to 0-8 lead at the break. Points from Lucey and Darragh Lyons extended the gap to five early in the second half.

Cork's half back line took over in the second half however and Mark Coleman put them in front with nine minutes remaining. The Rebels hit fifteen second half points to book their place in next month's provincial final.

Manager Sean Power told WLR's Tomás McCarthy that he was proud of the effort from his charges.

He also praised goalkeeper Billy Nolan who converted three second half frees.

The Mount Sion man said that he hasn't considered the vacancy for Waterford senior hurling manager at the moment.
