Waterford Council received over €500k in government funding to deal with aftermath of Storm Ophelia

Over €500,000 in central government funding was paid to Waterford Council to deal with the fallout from Storm Ophelia.

Three people were killed, including one Waterford woman, and millions of euros worth of damage were caused during October's storms.

Figures in today's Sunday Business Post revealed that Waterford Council received the second highest amount in government funding, behind Cork Council which was granted €3.5 million.

In all, over 9 million euro in emergency funding was granted to local authorities across the Country.
