Intriguing County Senior football Final in store on Sunday evening

The Nire and Killrosanty are counting down the days to their eagerly awaited County Senior Football Championship Final in Fraher Field on Sunday evening.

The Comeragh rivals go head to head in what's a repeat of the 2000 decider.

The Nire will be aiming to win their third Championship in five seasons, while Kilrossanty will be aiming to bridge a 29 year gap and bring home the Conway Cup.

Nire selector Tom Guiry believes that Kilrossanty will be keen to get their name on the trophy for the first time since 1989

Kilrossanty goalkeeper is the long serving Darren Mulhearne who won a Co. medal with the Green and Gold 29 years ago, he says there's a great buzz around their camp.

Darren outlined to WLR Sport his memories of that victory in the 1989 decider; "twas great to do it, as I say at the time you didn't really appreciate it, being 16 your not really caught up in it as much - next morning I was in school at 1o o' clock, it's just a long long time ago now and hopefully we can get things right on Sunday".

Throw-in is at 6pm, and we'll broadcast the game live here on WLR with commentary team Kieran O' Connor and Jason Ryan, thanks to George Corbett Skoda.
