Four Gardai were injured while on duty in Waterford City in the early hours of this morning.
They were called to a public order disturbance in the Bridge Street area of the City at 6.30 am.
The four Gardai were bitten in the arms, kicked and were threatened as they tried to arrest a man.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody at Waterford Garda Station.

All four gardai, three males and one female, attended University Hospital Waterford for treatment and have since been released.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to this morning's incident to contact them on 051 305300. They are interested in events both prior to and after the Gardai arrived.
