Two men who passed away at Waterford City hostel have been named locally

Gardaí aren't treating the deaths of two men in Waterford City yesterday as suspicious.

The men have been named locally as Paul Crotty and Mark Lyons from County Waterford.

Their bodies were discovered at McGwire's men's hostel on Bath Street in Waterford City at 4:45 pm yesterday evening.

Post mortem examinations are due to take place on Sunday.

The facility which caters for 25-30 men is currently run by St Vincent de Paul.

Regional Administrator David O'Neill spoke to Damien Tiernan on Deise Today and expressed his condolences to the men's families.

"Homelessness is a tough one for all and in particular at Christmas time. Anyone could be on the brink of homelessness.

"It's very tragic and sad news and our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and their family and friends."
