Zero Covid-19 cases recorded in Waterford by Dept of Health

No new cases were reported by the Department of Health in Waterford this evening.

It's the first time there have been zero cases included in the daily figures in Waterford in almost 6 months.

Nationwide 15 deaths and 401 new cases were recorded today.

Only two of the deaths reported today took place this month.182 of the cases are in Dublin, with 40 in Kildare, 31 in Donegal, 23 in Limerick, 22 in Cork and the remaining 103 cases are spread across all other counties.

The 5-day moving average number of cases in Waterford is now 3 and the 14-day incidence rate is 56.8 per 100,000 people.

There are 182 Covid patients in hospital nationwide - compared to 360 on the same day last month.

Meanwhile, Level Five restrictions look set to be eased further in the next few weeks.

The Taoiseach has said the government hopes to be able to open hotels in June.

Micheál Martin has refused to confirm what level of detail the government will provide on re-opening next week.

It’s expected retail, personal services, and the full construction sector will be allowed to re-open in May.

Micheál Martin has said he won’t get into speculation beyond that.
