Decade of Centenaries website to launch in September

A new website is being put together for all Waterford's events during the Decade of Centenaries.

The website will be called 'Waterford1916-2023.' It is hoped that the website will go live in September.

The website is something that Waterford's Heritage Officer, Bernadette Guest, believes will be a great resource when it's finished.

"So many heritage groups have been really active in commemorating their local piece of the revolutionary period so it's great that it's all together in a central portal like that," she said.

Research is also being carried out to create an interactive 'Story Map' on Civil War events in Waterford.

€50,000 was allocated by the Department of Culture for the 2022 programme of commemorations in the county.

Since 2016, there have been many events relating to the Decade of Centenaries.

All online exhibitions and publications will be made available to the public via the website.
