141 new dwellings were completed in Waterford in the first three months of this year.

That's a decrease of 15.6% on the same time last year.

According to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), over 6,700 new homes were completed nationally during quarter 1 of this year.

That's a rise of just over 19%.

However, Waterford's trends have gone the other way, with 141 homes now completed, as opposed to 163 during the same period in 2022.

Of this year's 141 dwellings, 28 were one-off, 86 were built as part of a scheme, and 27 were apartments.

Breaking down the figures by local electoral area; Waterford City South has seen 52 completed, both City East and Dungarvan have had 24 each, 19 have been finished in Portlaw-Kilmacthomas, 17 in Waterford City West, and just five in Lismore.

More than one third of all new homes completed in Ireland so far this year were in Dublin.
