Complaints lodged against public bodies and government organisations in Waterford saw an increase.

The Office of the Ombudsman has released its official figures for 2023.

The Office of the Ombudsman deals with complaints about most public bodies including local authorities, government departments, the HSE, and voluntary hospitals

Nearly 4,500 complaints about public services were made to the Office of the Ombudsman in 2023. 96 complaints were made from people living in County Waterford in 2023, rising from 71 in 2022, an increase of 35%.

There were 40 complaints made about Waterford City and County Council while 6 complaints were made to the Ombudsman about University Hospital Waterford and 2 about South East Technological University.
