Rescue volunteers leave parade to rescue hiker injured in the Comeraghs

Vehicles and volunteers from the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association left a St. Patrick's Day parade yesterday when they were tasked to the Comeragh mountains.

A female walker, who had been hiking the mountains with a group, suffered a leg injury on Knockanaffrin Ridge.

The SEMRA vehicles had been involved in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Cahir, Co. Tipperary when the call came in.

According to SEMRA, the group of walkers were well-equipped and kept the woman warm and elevated off the ground.

She was then transferred from the SEMRA Land Rover to a waiting ambulance at approximately 3.22pm.

The woman was transferred to University Hospital Waterford for assessment and treatment.
