Snámh Fada postponed in Tramore over contamination fears

The Snámh Fada won't be taking place in Tramore today over fears of contamination issues in the water.

The annual 1.2 kilometre fundraising event has been postponed until the end of the month because of possible e-coli in the water at Tramore Pier.

Having first raised the alert last summer, Waterford City and County Council issued a reminder on Friday for swimmers not to swim there for fear of getting sick.

They have told WLR that efforts are ongoing to remedy the problem.
