A thunderstorm warning has been issued for nine counties in the east and southeast.
Met Éireann has the status yellow alert running in Waterford, Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow and Tipperary until 7 o'clock this evening.
The forecaster is warning of difficult travelling conditions and the chance of flooding.
