Gardai appeal for witnesses to Tramore assault and robbery

Gardaí in Tramore are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted and robbed in the area on Tuesday afternoon.

The woman had her bag stolen, while a traffic cone was also thrown at her by a group of young people.

The incident occurred between 3:50 and 4:30 on Tuesday.

Sergeant Mark Mills says people are likely to have witnessed the event.

“It would have still been fairly bright. The incident occurred between the Moonvoy Roundabout and the Racecourse Roundabout, so on the Ring Road in Tramore. Anyone that witnessed this assault and robbery, we would be delighted to get any information in relation to it. Any dashcam footage. We do know that the traffic was stopped at the time during the robbery, and we are very keen to find out if anyone has any footage of the incident.”

The woman is believed to be ‘distraught’ after being subjected to the unprovoked attack, in which she suffered minor injuries.

“No doubt, someone did see it, but may not have thought that they should ring in. If we could identify suspects in this robbery, that would be great.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tramore Garda Station on 051 391 620.
