A Waterford Council vote last night (Monday) on a controversial road safety proposal in Tramore was defeated 9 votes to 7, with one abstention.

During the monthly Metropolitan District meeting at City Hall, councillors were asked to vote on the Section 38 which proposed widening of footpaths and the introduction of pedestrian crossings near Convent Hill.

This follows a public meeting last Thursday, which saw divided views, aired in Tramore Library.

Proposing the Section 38 last night were councillors Cristiona Kiely and Jody Power, while a vote was proposed by councillors Joe Kelly and Pat Fitzgerald.
