Fifth defeat in a row for Dèise as Laois get back on track | Allianz NFL Div. 4, Round 5
Waterford footballer's suffered a fifth straight defeat in Division 4 of the Allianz National league tonight.
Ephie Fitzgerald's charges went down to promotion chasing Laois by 2-13 to 1-5 at Laois Hire O' Moore Park, Portlaoise as Eoin Lowry ended with 2-7 for the home side.
Billy Sheehan's men were 0-3 to 0-0 to the good before Waterford opened their account in the 21st minute through captain Dermot Ryan who once again showed his quality and leadership.
Jason Curry converted a 31st minute penalty for the Dèise after Darragh Corcoran was hauled down as the visitors trailed by just three points at the break (1-6 to 1-3).
Eoin Lowry raised his second green flag two minutes in the 2nd-half as Laois got back to winning ways following their loss to Wicklow last weekend.
Captain Dermot Ryan kicked four points from play as Waterford's two 2nd-half points came in injury time.
Waterford will be at home to London for the penultimate round in two weeks time on March 18th and it's a game that both counties will be targeting.
