Waterford Councillors to hear from six Presidential hopefuls this morning.

Waterford City and County Council will hear from six people hoping to get a Presidential nomination today.

A special meeting will get underway in Dungarvan at 9.30am.

 

Businessman Sean Gallagher will be first to speak. As he has the required number of nomianations he will ask Councillors not to progress with a motion to nominate him.

He will be followed by artist Kevin Sharkey and journalist Gemma O'Doherty.

Marilyn Monroe impersonator Sarah Louise Mulligan and Peter Casey - another former star of Dragon's Den will then make their pitches.

The 6th and final speaker is Bernard Macgiolla Ernain.

In July the local authority heard from Gavin Duffy who already has the support of three council; Senator Joan Freeman, who has secured her place on the ballot and former Aer Lingus worker Patrick Feeney.

The council can follow in the footsteps of Dublin City Council and can chose not to nominate any candidates.
