University Hospital Waterford to Hold Patient Engagement Session

University Hospital Waterford is inviting members of the public to share their experiences at the hospital with them.

They're holding a patient engagement session on Thursday from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Management and staff plan to use to feedback to identify areas that require extra care and attention as well as informing the future planning and development of hospital services.

Gerry O 'Dwyer, CEO of the South / South West Hospital Group says "The South / South West Hospital group value patient feedback to identify areas that require extra care and attention, in turn allowing us to enhance the overall patient experience. Each hospital within the group strives to deliver the highest standard of patient care and we look forward to hearing feedback from the people of Waterford."

Meanwhile Mooncoin native and Cervical Cancer Campaigner Vicky Phelan says patient advocates are needed. "One of the things that Gabriel Scally pointed out in the report [into the CervicalCheck scandal] was that there needs to be a big sea-change in the attitudes of our medical profession. They need to listen to our patients more and that's why we need more patient advocates across the board."
