Gardaí investigating the detention of the Panamanian registered bulk cargo vessel, MV MATTHEW, and associated events have made a further arrest.
One man was arrested earlier today, Saturday 30th September 2023, for alleged organised crime offences contrary to the Criminal Justice Act, 2006.
This is the eighth (8th) person to be arrested to date as part of this investigation.
Six (6) individuals are currently being detained by investigating Gardaí under section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007, at Garda stations in the Southern Region.

Two (2) other individuals are currently before the Courts.
Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow.
Last night, two men appeared before Waterford District Court.
