The Taoiseach says there's a strong case to keep a mobile cath-lab in University Hospital Waterford
Leo Varadkar says the presence of the second lab has shown it may be needed on a permanent basis.
It's due to be removed next week.
However Leo Varadkar says there is a case to be made for keeping the mobile cath lab there while they make a final decision on whether there should be a second permanent facility. He was responding to questions in the Dáil from Sinn Fein TD David Cullinane.
The Taoiseach says the review on the location of cath labs across the country is taking place. "If it were to be removed, then I think we would just see waiting times worsen again". He added that "there is a strong case to keep the second mobile cath lab in place while work is completed on whether or not to locate a second one there on a permanent basis".
