Local Covid: Lismore lowest in country; Dungarvan above average

Lismore has the lowest Covid rate in the country at present but cases in Dungarvan remain stubbornly high.

Lismore had 6 cases in the fortnight from September 7th to Monday Sept 20th with the incidence rate at 56 per 100,000 people.

Cases in Dungarvan remained the same with 89 cases recorded for the second fortnight in a row. The incidence rate of 434 is higher than the national average of 390.

Cases rose slightly in Waterford City South with 70 cases in the past two weeks compared to 59 a week prior. Portlaw / Kilmacthomas saw 40 cases and has an incidence rate of 233.6. Tramore / Waterford City West recorded a slight rise with 45 cases bringing the incidence rate there to just over 200.

Cases fell in Waterford City East - which has the ninth lowest incidence rate in Ireland. 35 cases there give an incidence of 152.3.

There are currently three patients hospitalised with the virus at University Hospital Waterford, while 99.7% of Waterford adults have been vaccinated. 

The area with the highest incidence rate in Ireland at present is Milford in Donegal.
