Major flooding reported across East Waterford

Multiple floods have been reported across East Waterford.

The East of the county appears to be bearing the brunt of the weather this week, as West Waterford was severely hit by Storm Babet last week.

Floods have been reported in Ferrybank, Dunmore East, Faithlegg, Woodstown, and parts of South Kilkenny.

River levels and surface water levels remain high, and several areas of the county are flooded and impassable at the moment, including:

  • L4076-41 Road Closed at Fairybush to Woodstown
  • Flooding on Dunmore Road R684 at Hickey’s Cross and at Knockboy (near River Cottage)
  • Flooding in Ferrybank at the bottom of the Rockshire Road
  • Heavy surface water on the Cork Road in Waterford city, from the RSC to Whitfield roundabout
  • Flooding at Lisduggan and at Morris’ DIY on inner Cork Road
  • L4082 – flooding at Faithlegg Church
  • L4082 – flooding at Jack Meade’s pub

Waterford City and County Council’s ground crews and Waterford Fire Services have been deployed to multiple sites and are dealing with issues caused by surface water flooding.

Waterford City and County Council advises the public to exercise caution as driving conditions may be hazardous, with further surface water flooding expected.

Motorists are reminded to be conscious of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists.

Members of the public can contact Waterford City and County Council’s Customer Services Desks on 0818 10 20 20 during normal office hours after which calls will be transferred to the Council’s emergency services number.

More rain is expected as the day goes on, with the orange warning lasting until 4:00 A: M tomorrow morning.

Motorists are advised to take extreme caution while driving as surface water increases, and debris builds up on roads.
