Sunny South East Cycle to raise funds for Down Syndrome Ireland

Sunny South East Cycle to raise funds for Down Syndrome Ireland

The third annual Sunny South East Cycle takes place tomorrow. Over one hundred cyclists will depart from the SETU Arena to raise vital funds for the Waterford and South Kilkenny branches of Down Syndrome Ireland.

There are two routes on the day - 80 kilometers and 125 kilometers. Mary Foskin from the Waterford and South Kilkenny DSI Branch is hoping to see a big turnout this Sunday.

"This is our third year having this to raise funds for our branch. A lot of the cyclists that do the Tour De Munster, use these cycles as their training session as we have an 80KM and a 125KM route.

"We are hoping a lot of the local cycling clubs will get involved.  It starts at SETU and goes out the old Kilmeaden Road towards Mahon Falls and into Dungarvan.

"We have a food stop there with volunteers giving their time to provide refreshments. The cyclists then continue on towards Bonhahon and the coastal route towards Tramore and then back into SETU."
