Orange thunderstorm warning in place for Waterford

A Status Orange thunderstorm warning has been issued for five counties, with the rest of the country, apart from Kerry, under a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning.

The Orange warning is in effect for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Tipperary and Waterford until 8pm.

Met Éireann is warning of flash flooding, very difficult traveling conditions with poor visibility and potential damage to power lines.

A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning is also in effect until 10pm for Leinster and Connacht, along with counties Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.

The forecaster said there will be heavy downpours as thunderstorms develop.
