A Waterford mother has outlined her struggle to access services for her six-year-old daughter, with the situation made far worse as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Christine Hennessy, and her husband David, runs the David Hennessy Stage School, have a six year old daughter, Isabelle.

Their story was outlined by Darren Skelton in this week’s Waterford News & Star, where Christine spoke on the lack of available services and the adverse effects that this has had on Isabelle.

Isabelle has non-verbal autism and also has sensory issues.

Her mother, Christine says she needs to see a psychologist, a speech and language therapist and an occupational therapist.

Many of the services that were once available were pulled from underneath the family upon the onset of the pandemic.

Christine joined Damien Tiernan on Déise Today this morning to share their story.
