On this week’s Saturday Café, Maria McCann spoke with Colin Shanahan of Digicol Media.

Colin describes himself as a photographer, videographer, drone operator, musician and ‘tech junkie’, among many other guises.

This week just gone, Colin was tasked with a very important assignment - that being the Royal visit to Waterford.

Colin told Maria that he was contacted about an event at GIY Grow It Yourself on March 24th, but it was not disclosed to him who exactly was making the visit - all he knew was that there was a lot of forms to fill, and Garda vetting as well.

“I do a lot of work with the guys at GROW HQ. They booked me but couldn’t tell me who was coming. I knew it was someone important. Charles is very into sustainability, it was a genuine interest of his rather than just being part of the engagement. I was able to shadow the party moving around, and really got up close and personal. It was amazing to see.”

Maria and Colin also spoke about his career to date and his plans for the future, with Colin giving a fascinating insight into his multi-faceted career.
