Mother and daughter duo release radio documentary on Tramore

Main Street is a radio documentary on the development of the town of Tramore from a small fishing village in the 1800s to the present day. It takes a look at the lives and properties on Main Street and the greater Tramore area. It also examines the population, old censuses, emigration, and big influences on its history. It's presented and produced by Debbie Ridgard and was researched by Marie-Clare Rigard.

Speaking about the documentary, presenter Debbie Ridgard said:

“This documentary has been in the making for a few years now and was sparked by a conversation in the family kitchen. I read my mother’s research on the development of Tramore and wanted to bring it to a new audience.” Debbie added: “It has been such a special experience to create this documentary with my mother - especially as it’s focused on the town I grew up in and recently moved away from."

Historian Marie-Clare Ridgard said: “I really enjoyed being part of this documentary. The town of Tramore has been part of my own history since the 1970s and it has been extremely interesting doing a deep dive into what has influenced the town to become the place we see today."
