"It's a family affair" Aoife Murray on playing with her sisters

"It's a family affair" Aoife Murray on playing with her sisters

The Murrays have been mainstays for the Waterford ladies over the past ten seasons.

Aoife is delighted to represent the county alongside her sisters Emma, Katie and Cora. "It's great. We know no different, we started out together when we were Under 14. Since Cora has come onto the senior panel, it's great for her to be in the loop as well. It's a family affair. Plenty to be chatting about in the car!"

The triplets (Aoife, Emma and Katie) got their hands on the All Ireland intermediate trophy in 2015. "That was my first year on the panel. It's hard to beat that All Ireland win. We were so young, we were about 15 or 16. Looking back on it now, it makes you think just how special that day was. We got brought into the panel at such a young age and had the opportunity to win a medal with Waterford with all the experienced players like Elaine Power, Nora Dunphy and Michelle McGrath."

Her father Joe gave them a love of GAA. "It started at home. Our Dad Joe has had huge involvement with the ladies GAA, especially at club level. He was manager of the senior team for ten years. When we were growing up, he was still playing football with Rathgormack and they were winning county titles. We were very young but watching him and our other uncles really inspired us."
