Waterford travel to Mayo needing a win

Waterford travel West on Sunday for their penultimate outing in the Ladies' Football League Division 1A.

A positive result for Mayo would guarantee top-flight status again for 2025.

It’s incredibly tight at the bottom of the table, with Mayo relatively comfortable on seven points, four clear of Waterford, Galway and Cork, who are all on three points.

But a scenario could yet occur where Waterford and Galway both win on Sunday, moving them both to six points, and that would leave it all to play for as Galway have yet to play Waterford in the division’s outstanding game.

A draw between Waterford and Galway would then see Mayo, Galway and Waterford all locked together on seven points, with scoring difference coming into play at that juncture.

That particular permutation will be deemed irrelevant at the close of play on Sunday, however, should Mayo draw or win.

Pat Sullivan has named an unchanged Déise starting line-up after losing out by three points to Dublin.

Mayo have made one change in personnel following the narrow one-point loss to table-toppers Armagh, with Fiona McHale coming in for Saoirse Lally, as Aoife Geraghty takes over as team captain for this outing.
